From the Beginning...

Our story began with a single, meaningful moment: planning our own wedding.  Wanting every detail to feel personal and memorable, we started by creating our own wedding favours, featuring delicate peony candles alongside pillar candles for table décor.  What began as a hands-on, heartfelt project quickly turned into a passion for crafting pieces that add beauty and intention to life’s special moments.

Working from our home studio in the little town of Shelburne, Ontario, we continued to explore new ideas, scents, and designs.  What started with peony candle favours naturally grew into something more.  As our creativity expanded, so did our product line: evolving into wax melts, candles, and wax seal stickers, each thoughtfully designed and carefully handcrafted.

Behind the business is our little family - two kids who keep life busy and joyful, two playful Italian Greyhounds, and our curious Devon Rex cat.  Our children love being part of the experience in their own way, watching from the sidelines in their lab coats as candles are poured and wax seals are created.  As a small, hands-on business, each of our products is thoughtfully created by us, and they enjoy helping by choosing their favourite scents and colours, and have even made it their mission to add wax seal stickers to every card they give to friends, sharing a small piece of what we create with the people they love.

Quality and care are at the heart of everything we do.  We spend extensive time testing our products to ensure they burn beautifully, smell incredible, and meet our standards.  Each item is delicately hand-packaged in our studio with the same attention to detail we would give our own special moments.  Along the way, we’ve even developed our own candle burning test sheet for new candle makers, which you can find below.

Encouraged by the support of friends, family, and our community, our small idea blossomed into a business rooted in creativity, quality, and attention to detail. Every item we create carries the same care and inspiration that sparked it all.

Today, we’re proud to continue crafting from our home studio, helping others celebrate their own milestones and meaningful moments with products made to feel personal, beautiful, and lasting.

Candle Burn Testing Sheet

We provide guidance to help you create safe, high-quality candles, but every candle is unique.  Factors like wax type, wick size, fragrance load, and container shape can affect how a candle burns.  Testing your candles is essential to ensure they perform safely and as intended.

To make this easier, we’ve included a complimentary Candle Burn Testing Sheet.  By recording observations such as burn time, melt pool, and wick performance, you can confirm your candle burns safely and consistently, giving you peace of mind and helping maintain the high standards of your products.

Disclaimer: The guidance and testing sheet we provide are for recommendation purposes only.  Candle-making involves variables that can affect safety, including materials, wick choice, and environment.  Always conduct thorough test burns and follow proper safety precautions. We do not guarantee results, and you are responsible for ensuring your candles are safe to use and sell.

Candle Language

Candle making is both an art and a science, and like any refined craft, it has its own language.  From cold throw and hot throw to melt pool, wick trimming, and cure time, each term carries insight into how a candle behaves, how it interacts with its environment, and how it can best be enjoyed.  Understanding these words transforms your process by allowing you to move beyond guesswork and approach each creation with intention and confidence.

Learning the language of candle craft is about more than memorizing definitions.  It’s about cultivating a deeper awareness of the materials, techniques, and subtleties that shape every flicker of flame.  When you know the terms, you can anticipate challenges, troubleshoot effectively, and refine your candles with precision.  You begin to understand why a fragrance might fade too quickly, why a wax pool forms unevenly, or how the choice of wick affects the overall experience.

To support your journey, we’ve created a curated guide to candle terminology.  If you know a term that isn’t listed, we’d love to hear from you - your insights help grow the guide for everyone.  Download it and return to it as your skills grow.

Candle Wicking Guide

Choosing the right wick is a key step in creating a safe, beautiful, and long-lasting candle.  The recommendations in this guide are intended as helpful starting points, not guarantees, since factors such as wax type, fragrance and essential oil load, dyes, container size, and ambient conditions can all influence wick performance.

Test burns are essential to confirm that your candle burns evenly, forms a proper melt pool, and minimizes soot or smoking.  Even small changes in your recipe, like adjusting the wax blend, adding fragrance, or changing container size, can impact how the wick performs.

Selecting the correct wick not only improves burn quality but also enhances the overall safety of your candle.  A properly sized wick produces a stable flame, prevents overheating, and reduces the risk of irregular burning or excessive smoke.  By carefully testing and observing your candles, you can achieve the ideal combination of fragrance throw, visual appeal, and safe, reliable performance, ensuring every candle you create is both beautiful and well-balanced.
